The Associate Director of Digital Platform Engineering & Observability is responsible for leading the delivery and platform ownership of automation platforms, Dev Ops tooling, and Observability capabilities. This includes the implementation and management of Active and Passive Probes, Telemetry, Logging, and Analytics. The role's primary objective is to ensure the successful selection, implementation, integration, and lifecycle management of these technologies to support the Networks Divisions. This position requires a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of automation technologies and tooling, as well as their practical application in network environments. The Associate Director must ensure that the observability tools provide comprehensive visibility into system performance and health, enabling proactive issue detection and resolution. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate observability practices into the broader IT and business strategies, ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and capable of supporting the organisation's objectives. Responsibilities Technical Accountability: Development of Technology roadmap, capacity management, resiliency planning, lifecycle management, and configuration management. Operational Enablement: Tier 3 support, platform KPI reporting, backup and recovery planning, and problem management investigation. Cyber Security Management: Ensuring platform adherence to Optus Cyber Security policy including penetration testing, anti-malware scanning, vulnerability scanning, CIS scans, and user access reviews. Commercial: Capital management and development of the Annual Operating Plan, procurement of tooling and resourcing required to fulfill platform ownership responsibilities. Innovation and Improvement: Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies and methodologies to enhance platform capabilities and efficiency. Team Leadership: Lead a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, Dev Ops engineers, and architects, to ensure seamless integration and operation of platform components. Performance Monitoring: Implement and utilise monitoring tools to support proactive identification and resolution of performance issues, ensuring optimal platform performance and availability. Observability: Implement active and passive probes, telemetry, logging, and analytics to monitor and optimize system performance. Platform Engineering: Technical accountability, operational enablement, cybersecurity, and commercial management to ensure platform resilience and compliance. What we are looking for Technical qualification (degree) in Telecommunications Engineering (or related Engineering discipline) or equivalent. Proven experience in senior leadership roles with hands-on coaching, mentoring and performance management experience. Background in overseeing service design and delivery teams, with a focus on delivering reliable and high-performance network services. Experience in change management, external governance, and optimising legacy tasks associated with network services. Experience with contract negotiations and management. Excellent knowledge of problem analysis and design techniques. Experience across Telecommunications domains including RAN, Voice, Packet, Transport, IP as well as understanding of virtual / cloud networks. Experience in Dev Ops / Software development. Experience in Network Probing solutions for Active and Passive Probes, Packet brokers, physical and virtual tapping. Understanding of Network Interfaces and packet tracing. Understanding of protocols such as SIP, RTP, SS7, Diameter, UDP, SCTP, TCP. Understanding of Mobile Core, IP and Access Network Architecture (e.g., 5 G, LTE, IP, Signaling technologies, CNF, IMS, IN, Vo LTE, Vo NR, Orchestration, AI, Automation and CI / CD). #J-18808-Ljbffr
