OverviewDesart is a not-for-profit peak industry body for 40 Aboriginal art and craft centres across Central Australia. Based in Alice Springs, we have been providing advocacy, training and support services for Art Centres for over 25 years. Desart provides a united voice on behalf of Aboriginal artists and our member Art Centres, aiming to ensure their recognition and sustainability as a vital cultural, social and economic resource. We provide programs that support strong governance and business practices, training and mentoring of Art Centre staff, advocacy and promotional opportunities through our vibrant, highly regarded events. Our programs are based on the values of culture, consultation, diversity, autonomy and transparency. Desart's members represent over 8,000 artists from 16 language groups from across five regions in the central desert. We are a 100% local, Aboriginal governed and led organisation. The RoleThe Strong Business Program Manager is responsible (with the support of the Strong Business Program Officer) for the development and delivery of Desart's Strong Business Program, promoting and supporting best practice management of Art Centres. The Strong Business Program supports Art Centres to run strong, healthy businesses, providing opportunities and building the capacity required for the creation of high-quality artworks. It supports the artistic, cultural, social and economic aspirations of member Art Centres, working closely with Art Centre management. The Strong Business Program covers three main areas: The Strong Business Program Manager will also lead a team to deliver professional development activities and programs for Desart's member Art Centres, as identified in the Strategic Plan.
