Primary Objective: Assist in managing the Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations grants program and contribute to the promotion of the resource potential of the Northern Territory.
Context Statement: The purpose of the Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) is to attract, de-risk, and support investment in resource exploration and development in the Territory and provide geoscience-based advice to government and the community. The Project Geologist Grants and Promotion role will contribute their technical expertise and organisational and communication skills to help administer the Government's exploration grants program and promote NTGS activities and the resource potential of the Northern Territory.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the administration and governance of the Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations (GDC) program, including the application and assessment process, contract management, budgeting, reporting, and implementation of the program.Liaise with and provide advice to industry on the GDC program, including tracking the status and progress of co-funded projects.Validate and interpret data and reports provided through the GDC program and make recommendations relating to compliance with contractual and other Government requirements.Maintain currency of knowledge and awareness of modern and emerging exploration concepts and technologies.Assist in co-ordinating and facilitating the promotion of NTGS activities and the resource potential of the Northern Territory, including maintaining the currency and accuracy of technical content on the geoscience initiative website and other promotional channels.Contribute to the organisation of promotional activities and events, and the preparation and delivery of high-quality technical promotional materials and publications.Assist in providing advice to industry and government on the Territory's geological resource potential.As required, provide technical input to assist in the delivery of other NTGS projects and programs. Selection Criteria: Essential:Tertiary qualification in geoscience or a related discipline from a recognised university.Demonstrated knowledge of or experience in the minerals exploration or mining industry.Demonstrated organisational and project management skills with high attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to a technical and non-technical audience.Demonstrated ability to show initiative and effectively prioritise and manage diverse tasks in a dynamic team environment.Demonstrated experience using spatial applications and relational databases (e.g., ArcGIS, MapInfo). Desirable:Experience in contract management processes and/or grants administration.Knowledge of the geology, mineral resources, and regulatory framework of the Northern Territory.
