About the role
The Accredited Clinical Exercise Physiologist role is to work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based and informed treatments to our Mates and/or their families to address physical injury and chronic disease management. Provide a combination of individual and group exercise sessions, lead education programs for small groups and liaise with relevant internal and external providers. Externally promote our service offerings to relevant stakeholders to ensure our targeted client cohort are engaged and aware of the ongoing support they can receive through our service offerings and provide training and support to all rehabilitation action programs.
More specifically, the role's purpose is to:
Leadership, vision, and business accountability
1. Provide advice to Executive and Senior Management on areas within role responsibilities and ensure organisational compliance and continued improvement.
2. Identify, establish, and maintain key working relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of services within scope of role responsibility.
Delivery of Exercise Physiology Service
1. Undertake physiological assessments with clients, which may at times include young people and families.
2. Design, evaluate and implement tailored evidence-based therapies to clients to support positive outcomes.
3. Participate in short term residential programs, including attendance and acting as a subject matter expert in the selection process to determine physical suitability of a client to undertake the program.
Clinical research advice and support
1. Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of Mates4Mates health and wellbeing programs and services, including liaising with external stakeholders to gain input and promote service.
2. Participate in regular ongoing supervision as prescribed under the directive of the Physical Rehabilitation Manager.
3. Maintain currency of contemporary practices within professional field and challenges facing Defence cohort to support delivery of relevant physical rehabilitation services.
Administrative
1. Active attendance at all meetings, as required, including group and individual clinical supervision lead by the Physical Rehabilitation Clinical Lead, National Clinical Manager and Regional Manager.
2. Ensure client records and case notes are kept up to date in line with internal and external requirements.
3. Actively adhere to all requirements to maintain full registration as an accredited Exercise Physiologist with ESSA or Physiotherapist with AHPRA.
Essential for success
This incumbent will be an exercise physiology professional with 2 plus years’ experience with the following skills:
1. Tertiary qualification in clinical exercise physiology and full registration with ESSA or full registration as a Physiotherapist with AHPRA.
2. Experienced in the treatment and management of musculoskeletal and neurological dysfunctions, as well as chronic disease management.
3. Ability to develop and implement treatment and recovery plans for individuals and families, as required.
4. Well-developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and computer proficiency, including the ability to use client information management systems.
5. Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate accountability and proficiency in clinical report writing.
6. Must hold current Working with Children check valid for paid employment in your relevant state or territory of operation.
Advantageous
1. Direct experience in delivering exercise physiology/physiotherapy or health and fitness related services to current or past serving Defence personnel and their families.
2. Demonstrated clinical skills in delivering evidence-based treatment to people across the lifespan presenting with a wide variety of presentations.
3. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
