Who are we looking for?
This position is to support the teaching program of the School of Mathematical Sciences related to unit offering into the QUT You program. These units are offered to a diverse cohort of undergraduate students across different Faculties, schools, disciplines, and year levels. You will prepare and conduct tutorials, consult with students, undertake assessment and attend meetings as required by the unit coordinator. If you are new to the Faculty of Science, you will be required to attend the sessional academic induction and training.

We deliver distinctive programs in Information Technology, Mathematics and Science to meet industry demands for data-driven and technological solutions.
Strong connections and long-standing partnerships with governments and industry enable us to address complex challenges through learning, teaching, research, and innovation. We facilitate learning that is delivered on campus, online and in the real-world through relevant and practical learning experiences.

The Faculty is renowned for its translational research expertise in areas such as climate change, energy, geosystems, food security and water resource management led by world-class and internationally recognised researchers. The Faculty is home to both University and Faculty based Research Centres, including:

* Centre for Data Science
* Centre for Materials Science
* Centre for Resilience
The Faculty is led by the Executive Dean and the Executive Management Team which includes the Deputy Deans, Associate Deans, Heads of School, and the Faculty Operations Manager.
The School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) is a vibrant, multidisciplinary school with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of statistics, operations research and applied and computational mathematics.
There are currently 29 full-time academic staff members employed in the School, including 11 Professors.
Over the past five years staff of the school have held ten prestigious Australian Research Council fellowships including a Laureate fellowship, four ARC Discovery Early Career fellowships and five Future fellowships. Two of our professors are recognised among Australia’s seven most highly cited researchers in mathematics, and QUT’s Centre for Data Science is led by a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Social Sciences.
The School offers Bachelor degrees in both Mathematics and Data Science, as well as a postgraduate program at Masters (research) and PhD levels. The Bachelor of Mathematics degree has majors in our three key areas of expertise; Statistics, Operations Research and Applied and Computational Mathematics.
What do you need to succeed?
* Minimum of a Masters degree, or equivalent, in any discipline (e.g., sciences, business, law, health, engineering, creative industries, social sciences, education). Equivalence may be determined for candidates with a degree below a Masters degree when accompanied by relevant experience.
* Experience with quantitative methods, knowledge of data science and its applications in your discipline, and knowledge of ethical frameworks, is also desirable.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to facilitate and moderate group discussion and debate related to weekly content and case studies, and facilitate skills development, face-to-face or online.
* Excellent organisational skills and effective time management.
* Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard or Canvas) is desirable.
* Demonstrated ability in, or commitment to, supporting diversity and fostering inclusivity across students and the teaching team.
