The Role
The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing the company's BI environment, working collaboratively with both IT and business teams. This individual will ensure the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of the BI systems and processes, helping drive informed decision-making across the business. The role involves managing and deploying new reporting capabilities, overseeing data collection and utilisation, and ensuring that BI tools and reports align with business requirements and priorities. The BI Specialist will work proactively to identify improvements, streamline reporting processes, and train users on the use of BI tools.
Key responsibilities include:
* Develop and Maintain BI Solutions: Design, deploy, and maintain BI reports and data processes, ensuring data accuracy and quality.
* Stakeholder Communication and Support: Provide efficient service, prepare reports, and maintain strong relationships with business teams.
* Business Partnership and Consultancy: Assess reporting requests, provide BI solutions, and prioritise initiatives aligned with business goals.
* Escalations and Problem Management: Resolve BI-related service desk escalations and implement solutions to prevent recurring issues.
* Continuous Improvement and Compliance: Ensure compliance with policies, mentor team members, and drive process improvements.
The BI Specialist will engage with the business to ensure new analytical and operational reporting initiatives are appropriately assessed and managed through to delivery. Ensuring BI solutions are delivered using consistent project management and change management processes will be key to this role.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven ability to manage business intelligence (BI) initiatives, ensuring high system availability and cost efficiency, while demonstrating strong organisational and multitasking skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
They will possess exceptional problem-solving and analytical expertise, a keen attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with stakeholders. With 7+ years of experience in the IT industry, particularly in BI and Microsoft technologies, the candidate will be proficient in the Microsoft BI stack, including Power BI, SSRS, and SQL Server, and have experience designing and building data warehouses. Familiarity with Azure BI services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL, and Azure DevOps, as well as solid experience in SQL development, T-SQL, SSIS, and basic SQL Server and Windows Server administration, is essential.
The successful candidate will also be skilled in producing high-quality technical documentation and managing release and change management processes. A university degree in a related field is required, and experience with industry-specific solutions like Epicor, AutumnCare, TimeTarget, or Chris21, as well as ITIL certification, is highly desirable. The candidate will also demonstrate the ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes as needed.
