You will be the senior synthetic medicinal chemist on our small molecule drug discovery projects funded by the NHMRC and Cancer Institute NSW.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
drive a high-impact research program on medicinal chemistry against telomeric cancer targets, including small molecule synthesis, structure-based analogue design, SAR studies, and target engagement assayslead a team of junior research students, including laboratory supervision, project design, skills development, and career mentorshipcommunicate and support research through writing of manuscripts, grant applications, and conference presentationsmanage ongoing partnerships with academic and industry collaboratorscoordinate laboratory administrative tasks, including equipment maintenance and lab organisationAbout you The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. a PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or closely-related disciplineexperience in planning synthetic routes and completing multi-step syntheses for a variety of target small moleculesknowledge in medicinal chemistry and structure-based drug designability to operate and maintain synthetic laboratory equipmentability to conduct or learn associated skills such as computational docking and biophysical assaysThe base salary will increase in July 2025 by 3.75%.
