Key responsibilities of the Roller Operator position include:* Efficient operation of a roller to meet required standards on maintenance and construction projects* Performing general labouring duties* Providing high quality plant operation services to work teams at various locations* Maintaining and servicing plant and equipment according to operating procedures* Maintaining a daily diary of plant movements as required* Interpreting basic plans and instructions* Undertaking traffic control and implementing traffic control plans as needed* Reporting identified weeds* Responding to internal and external customer requests as needed* Participating in toolbox and team meetings* Liaising with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities* Undertaking routine administrative tasks as required* Assisting senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices* Participating in training, exercises and disaster management and recovery efforts as needed* Undertaking other relevant duties as directedEssential qualifications include:* Queensland Class C manual drivers licence* Qld General Safety Induction - white or blue card* Civil Construction – Operator Roller (LR) CompetencyDesirable qualifications include:* Other Plant Operator Tickets* Traffic Management Implementation Plan Competency* Traffic Controller CompetencyKey abilities, skills and knowledge required for the position include:* Demonstrated experience in operating heavy vehicles in a construction and maintenance infrastructure environment* Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques* Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills* Sound understanding of and commitment to EEO and WHS principles and practices* Ability to work effectively in a team environment under minimal supervision
