About your opportunity:

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dental Officer to be a part of the clinical team within the Townsville Oral Health Service. This opportunity would suit an individual who is organised, highly motivated, shows initiative, exhibits diligence, is self-motivated and enjoys working within the public health system. This role would suit someone who is passionate about preventative dentistry, who is self-motivated, enjoys working as part of a team and ultimately values high quality patient centred care in an efficient and effective way.
The Townsville Oral Health Service (TOHS) fits within the Health and Wellbeing Service Group within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
1. Ability to perform all aspects of general dentistry within the scope of practice under the dental practitioner division of dentists.
2. Disposition to travel to remote and rural locations to provide services within the HHS.
3. Person centred approach with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable attributes:
4. Experience in dentistry in a Public Health setting.
5. Experience in rural and remote settings.

7. Salary range of $4755.90 to $5563.40 p.f. (DO1)
8. 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading

Candidate Requirements:
11. Mandatory requirements: Appointment to this position requires possession of a tertiary qualification in dentistry from a recognised institution and current registration with the Dental Board of Australia.Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current annual license certificate.Possession of a current licence to operate a radiation source for Dental Diagnostic Radiography (intra oral).There is a requirement that all dental practitioners are credentialed and have their scope of clinical practice defined with Qld Health before commencing employment and throughout employment with Qld Health.
12. Consideration may be given to applicants who are enrolled in their final year of a program of study Accredited by the Australian Dental Council and would subsequently qualify to be registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a Dentist. A future appointment may be considered upon providing satisfactory evidence for all mandatory requriements.
13. Possession of class C drivers' licence.
14. This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
15. Travel is a requirement of this position.
16. Probation period may apply.
