Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced commercial disputes lawyer to join our high-performing team at Westpac Group.
As a Lawyer/ Senior Lawyer in the Class Actions & Commercial Disputes team, you will play a crucial role in managing high-profile litigation and a broad range of commercial disputes.
Key Accountabilities:
* Providing legal support in relation to the day-to-day management of large-scale class actions and litigation and a variety of commercial disputes.
* Identifying, tracking, and monitoring existing and emerging legal risks and issues arising from and in relation to any domestic and international litigation and disputes trends.
* Working with regulatory colleagues to identify emerging class action and litigation risk.
* Providing litigation advice and support on a range of matters as required.
* Working with related Legal teams to understand and advise business partners on learnings associated with class actions and commercial disputes.
* Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships with relevant business leaders and Legal colleagues to ensure appropriate levels of governance, oversight, and accountability.
* Taking reasonable steps to prevent the occurrence of risk incidents or, if an incident does occur, identifying it and ensuring that it is managed and escalated and resolved appropriately.
Requirements:
* Minimum 6 years PQE.
* Extensive experience in large-scale disputes, regulatory investigations, or advisory work in a major bank, regulator, or law firm.
* Solutions-focused and good problem-solving skills.
* Excellent professional and commercial judgement and decision-making.
* Enthusiastic, energetic, well-organised, and diligent.
* Enjoys working both autonomously and within a team-oriented environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and sustain key relationships with business partners, Westpac Legal colleagues, and law firms.
Salary:$120,000 - $180,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
