Good oral health can influence the well-being of the whole body and mind.
The NT Remote Locum Program is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led remote health workforce program. We work to strengthen and uplift existing health services in the NT to provide quality healthcare to their communities.
We are looking for skilled and experienced Dental Therapists to work as part of a holistic community health service team. You will be supported by highly experienced Aboriginal health practitioners, General Practitioners, nurses, drivers and administration staff. The team’s remote knowledge will assist and guide you to provide culturally safe oral health care.
Essential experience and qualifications:
1. Current Oral Health Scheduled Substance Treatment Protocol (SSTP) certificate in the past 2 years.
2. Current NT Radiation License or application for NT Radiation License.
3. Minimum of Two years full-time post-graduate of clinical relevant experience as a dental therapist
4. Minimum of 250 hours of relevant full-time clinical experience working as a dental therapist within the past 12 months
5. Current basic life support (BLS) / CPR Certificate
What’s in it for you?
We’ll take care of the arrangements for your placement, talking to you and the health service you will be joining throughout the process.
As you transition to a remote setting, we provide cultural orientation and ongoing support so you can concentrate on providing a quality oral health care service to the community.
As an urban-based dental therapist, you already have the skills to work in a remote community. But the health issues you work with in remote communities might be different to those in urban and rural areas. You can expect to expand your skills and knowledge and we provide plenty of resources to support your new experiences, including the NT Remote Locum Program eLearning program.
So you can transition smoothly, we will provide:
6. free online training valid for CPD with ACRRM
7. 24/7 support
8. information about the community where your placement is, and logistical information about travelling to, living and working there.
We value diversity and inclusion and actively encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, those from LGBTQIA+ and a diverse cultural background. We are a veteran-owned business and we encourage ADF veterans with appropriate skills and experience to apply.
