About the Role: As a Senior Mine Safety Officer – Planner and Scheduler, you will play a crucial role in the ongoing implementation of the Resources Regulator’s Incident Prevention Strategy. Your key responsibilities will include: Planning and scheduling : Developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive safety inspection schedule that involves operational mines throughout NSW. Data analysis and reporting : Regularly reviewing and analysing safety data to monitor trends, identify emerging risks, and report on safety performance metrics for the sector. Long-term scheduling strategy : Managing a rolling 3-year schedule that optimizes resource allocation and ensures thorough regulatory coverage across NSW mine sites. Contingency planning : Implementing adaptable scheduling practices that respond to emerging trends that may influence targeted intervention strategies within the industry. What do you need to be successful? Whilst mine site experience is not essential, we are looking for a skilled professional with a strong background in planning, scheduling, and safety in the mining industry. Our ideal candidate will have: Professional level computer literacy: MS Office, relevant scheduling software and other applications as necessary that support data-driven planning, reporting, and analysis. Experience Coordinating Activities Across a Large Geographic Area : Demonstrated ability to manage safety activities, inspections, and team coordination across extensive regions in NSW, adapting to the logistical complexities involved. Ability to work autonomously : Demonstrated reliability and trustworthiness in independently managing tasks, making informed decisions in alignment with organisational objectives. Strong skills in resource management for multi-disciplinary teams : Proven experience in effectively assigning resources and maximizing team efficiency across various disciplines to meet operational and industry safety objectives. Expertise in planning and scheduling: Proven experience in creating and managing schedules, ensuring thorough and timely inspections across NSW mines. Attention to detail and analytical skills : Demonstrated capability to meticulously review data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to enhance safety measures and compliance. Strong interpersonal and communication skills : Skilled in building collaborative relationships with internal teams. Essential requirements of the role: You must be able to respond to incidents out of normal business hours (backshifts, weekends) which is on a rostered basis. You must hold and maintain a current Class C driver licence. Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement.
