Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide technical support, advice, knowledge, and experience to achieve effective outcomes from sole invitee, local government, and open contracts for road improvement works.
• Conduct surveillance and audits of contractor's works, processes and quality records to ensure compliance with governance and contract conditions including traffic guidance schemes/plans on site.
• Maintain detailed records (diaries, test results, photos) and reports to a high standard.
• Provide regular advice to superintendent's representative on contractor performance, including holdpoints, NCR's, CAR's and general progress.
• Guide, mentor, and coach less experienced inspectors in all aspects of road works, quality assurance, safety traffic and environmental management and application of Main Roads' technical specifications
• Liaise with the community in relation to activities within the road reserve and provide timely responses to the communications team and principal maintenance engineers.
• Review contractors program of works, quality, environment, safety and traffic management plans whilst identifying deficiencies and monitoring external contractors to ensure adherence to relevant Workplace Health and Safety requirements. Apply relevant WH&S requirements in the workplace.
This position reports to the Principal Engineer and has no direct reports.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Possession of a class "C" driver's licence will be necessary to undertake duties.
Desirable:
• Relevant industry or roads infrastructure experience or experience in the construction and maintenance of bridges and large drainage structures would be highly regarded.
Requirements of the role:
• Project Management: Knows and applies project management principles and methodology and works within these to achieve project outcomes.
• Construction and Maintenance: Applies high level of knowledge and experience of road construction and/or maintenance practices and principles to road construction and/or maintenance.
• Contract administration: Applies a comprehensive knowledge of contract administration documents, specifications, contract conditions and standard drawings,
with the ability to read interpret plans and specifications accurately.
• Builds Enduring Relationships - Builds and sustains relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.
