Full time continuing role with University of SydneyWork with the University's iconic buildingsCompetitive Base Salary $150,628 + 17% SuperannuationAbout the opportunity The Facilities Manager (G08) is responsible for the management and operation of facilities initially at G08 (Molecular Bioscience Building), with option to add additional buildings within precinct and for ensuring that they operate at the optimum requirements and specifications to support the academic endeavours and research outcomes. This position will be the key point of contact between COS (Central Operations Services) and our stakeholders to ensure COS is meeting the needs and expectations of its clients and those clients are aware of the extent of work that COS is undertaking within the Buildings.
The Facilities Manager will have detailed knowledge of all activities (maintenance, projects, and services) that are provided within the facilities and will proactively seek to ensure that the infrastructure and services within these facilities are at optimum level for research and teaching, ensuring facilitation of commercial arrangements and obligations are met on behalf of the University.
The Facilities Manager will build professional partnerships with teams, service providers and University stakeholders to ensure delivery of infrastructure services on time and on budget, with a strong focus on practical installation, configuration, and communication.
The Facilities Manager will drive innovations to improve service delivery. Providing technical leadership and direction, the jobholder will ensure the reliability of all plant and equipment and that the operation of all plant is cost-effective with asset lifecycles maintained. This role will drive cost-effective Repairs and Maintenance and assist in capital expenditure programs. The Facilities Manager will undertake contract management to improve efficiencies in repairs and maintenance within a controlled budget.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Be the key point of contact between COS and stakeholders in meeting the needs and expectations of its clients and ensuring those clients are aware of the extent of work undertaken within the building.Ensure that building engineering services and plant are operating efficiently and meet the required performance requirements.Oversee all development, maintenance and major/minor capital works programs to ensure minimal disruption to stakeholders.Manage the delivery of a suite of soft services through a retained services provider.Manage and report on operational finances.Ensure the statutory compliance of all WHS and public liability requirements, including all on-site WHS obligations (including inductions, orientation etc).About you Demonstrated experience in building or facilities management.Proven experience working with buildings within the medical or educational fields.Knowledge and experience in working with capital works, infrastructure and development projects.Mechanical and electrical trade qualifications highly regarded.Superior customer service skills, managing and influencing a large group of politically sensitive clients.Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
