The Core Capability Requirements for this role are:
1. Manage and mentor a team of Decision Makers to ensure a high standard, and a level of consistency in decision making on access applications under the legislation, and that a high standard of customer service is delivered by the Right to Information and Privacy Unit.
2. Process complex Right to Information and Information Privacy applications and exercise decision making power under the Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009.
3. Research complex legal and policy issues associated with the Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009 and impacting on the operations of the Queensland Police Service.
4. Assist the Manager RTI including conducting internal reviews and providing support and backfilling as required.
5. Provide timely high level and quality advice to senior management concerning access and amendment to documents, the application of exemption provisions and public interest factors.
6. Liaise, consult, and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including applicants and the Office of the Information Commissioner, and conduct third party consultations and consultations on behalf of other Queensland Government agencies.
7. Identify, develop, and implement appropriate right to information and information privacy procedures and practice standards to ensure the on-going efficient and effective implementation of right to information and information privacy in the Department, including providing expert advice and assistance to the Director and Manager, Right to Information and Privacy Unit.
8. Provide guidance and assistance to team members to ensure work priorities are met, including quality assurance checks and the processing and completion of decisions case managed within the team.
