The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate, and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.

Purpose of the role The Financial Operations, Alarms and Systems Support branch manages all activities relating to QFD accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate cards, banking, debt recovery, including alarm monitoring financial activities, disaster recovery relief arrangements and financial systems help-desk support.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer, you will be a key member of the team responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of financial operations for debt recovery and supporting expense and invoice management activities, as required to meet the departments obligations, objectives and to optimise customer outcomes, aligning to QFD strategic direction You will provide high-level customer and internal stakeholder support with the primary aim to resolve issues, recover arrears, and/or offer payment assistance alternatives, and assist in continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with departmental policy and procedures for financial best practice and standards.
Key requirements Highly desirable requirements Knowledge and understanding of financial management practices and processes, including debt collection and accounts receivable fundamentals.
Experience in an accounts receivable role and working in SAP ECC previously for payment management and reporting.
Experience in debt recovery and providing excellent customer service and negotiation skills for managing debtors and challenging and sensitive situations.
Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: Contribute to, and support end to end debt management activities while providing guidance and/or escalation for complex debt recovery matters to ensuring compliance with policy, procedures and standards and prompt delivery of services to clients and key stakeholders.
Perform administrative duties to support customers, with empathy and professionalism, in managing client accounts, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all actions taken, such as phone calls and correspondence to meet departmental processes and requirements.
Undertake research, and provide advice and support to customers on financial payment matters, including invoice management and customer accounts, debt payment arrangements, aligning with legislative policies and procedures.
Manage and monitor the receipting function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of bank transactions and payment allocations to effectively manage revenue and debt recovery processes in line with industry best practices.
Prepare financial and/or debt management reporting and reconciliations to enable accurate financial and statistical data reporting, and ensure efficient and effective revenue billing and collection cycles.
Liaise and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support financial management initiatives and debt recovery resolution to meet desired outcomes.
Contribute to the review, development and implementation of financial practices and procedures to assist in continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure they meet best practices, governance departmental and service delivery requirements are achieved.
