As an Orange Door Practitioner, you will support people with advice, focusing on risk assessment, engagement, provision of an initial response and as a source of information to people referred to the Orange Door. You will work collaboratively as part of an integrated practice approach to respond to family violence and children and family vulnerability concerns. It is a free service for adults, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced family violence and families who need extra support with the care of children. The Orange Door network aims to be accessible, safe and welcoming, providing quick and simple access to support. It brings services together as a partnership so that individuals and families don’t have to go to multiple services or to retell their story multiple times to have their needs met. The network can connect people to a range of services that provide ongoing safety and wellbeing supports. The Orange Door helps to tilt the focus of the whole service system towards tackling the source of the violence, people who use violence. There is a strong focus on perpetrator accountability, holding them accountable for their actions and changing their behaviour. As an Orange Door Practitioner, you will support people with advice, focusing on risk assessment, engagement, provision of an initial response and as a source of information to people referred to the Hub. You will work collaboratively as part of an integrated practice approach to respond to family violence and children and family vulnerability concerns. Our Orange Door Practitioners provide an initial contact point for women, children, young people and families experiencing family violence; perpetrators of family violence; and families in need of support with the care, development and well-being of children Your role Deliver screening and triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, allocate and coordinate referrals Deliver services and support via phone, within the Orange Door and outreach at client's home or other sites Collaboratively work with the Hub team to support integrated risk assessment and planning, including participating in case conferences, meetings and the resolution of stakeholder issues. Carry a level of responsibility for decision making to identify, assess and prioritise risk and needs of women and children, families and perpetrators. Provide support for women, children, young people and families experiencing family violence, perpetrators of family violence and families in need of support with the care, development and well-being of children Skills & Experience required A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology, Community Services or relavant degree Demonstrated experience working with children and families and/or family violence where there are complex needs and risk issues. Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma. Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and prioritise risks and needs of clients in a whole of family approach. The ability to recognise and identify limits of own expertise and to seek advice or refer clients to other specialists.
