The National Insurance & Health Team
Our Insurance & Health team is headed up by 32 industry leading principals across six states. Within the insurance space our award-winning team is known for producing high quality advice and delivering exceptional client service. The team handles claims across all major classes of insurance and acts for the biggest names in the insurance industry, both locally and overseas.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Associate or Special Counsel level lawyer to join our tight-knit Financial Lines and Health team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will work in a truly collegiate team, headed by two leading and respected Principals, Hubert Wajszel and Scott Shelly.
Responsibilities
The role offers a broad range of financial lines and health work from an array of clients. Financial lines matters will involve defending a variety of claims brought against directors, officers and companies, and professionals across the legal, financial services, construction and property industries. Health law matters will provide opportunities for involvement acting for hospitals, clinics, medical and allied health professionals and other health care providers in a variety of claims, disciplinary proceedings, litigated proceedings and coronial inquests.
Requirements
* 5+ years defendant insurance experience (preferably professional indemnity);
* Strong file management ability;
* Ability to build strong client relationships with a focus on client service;
* Effective communication skills;
* Ability and enthusiasm to mentor junior practitioners; and
* Collaborative and pragmatic approach.
