Position Summary The Media Officer will be part of HAA media and communications program. You will provide an internal advisory service to the organisation for all media, communication, social media and marketing-related activities. A core focus of the role is driving HAA’s advocacy program through media liaison and management. Role and Responsibilities • Develop and deliver management of complex media inquiries, preparation of media responses, releases, campaigns, and issues management. • Liaise with HAA staff, external stakeholders, and Media outlets to deliver effective and relevant media services that reflect organisational priorities and uphold and promote HAA’s reputation. • Develop timely responses to complex media inquiries and issues to mitigate risk and promote the reputation of HAA and its service delivery. • Prepare various media materials for key stakeholders, including briefings, statements, fact sheets, Q&As, and media releases to support events, provide information, and respond to issues. • Create and deliver daily and informative posts on the most relevant and appropriate social media. • Development and delivery of key messages for major projects. • Investigate options for tracking social media and website activity and develop and implement a strategy for improvement. • Developing media contacts • Monitoring media coverage • Writing letters • Leading a team to organize media events and promotional activities • Generating ideas to gain more media coverage What you’ll need to succeed • A degree in journalism, public relations or communications, or another relevant field. • Demonstrated experience coordinating, writing, editing, and producing stories, media releases, newsletters, annual reports, and publications for both online and print. • Sound knowledge and understanding of the media and its operation, including demonstrated experience in managing media and communications activities. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders from different disciplinary backgrounds and at different levels of seniority. • Experience with web management and social media strategies. • A high degree of computer literacy in word processing and presentation software. • Ability to comprehend new concepts and analyse large amounts of information and produce succinct and engaging media releases and news items. • Excellent time management with a demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects, adapt to meet changing demands and meet deadlines. • Self-starters with emotional intelligence and willingness to work as a proactive, enthusiastic, harmonious, innovative and positive team member to capture great stories. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills English and Arabic.
