We have an opportunity for an experienced Gardening and Maintenance Officer to join our team at The Henry Canberra, a retirement village nestled in the picturesque suburb of Higgins in Belconnen. We are seeking an experienced individual who will thrive in a hands-on role. Your primary focus will be maintaining our village and gardens to the highest standard, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for our residents and visitors.Reporting to the Management team, your duties will encompass a variety of tasks, including:Managing lawn and grounds maintenance (including but not limited to seeding, topdressing, fertilising, mulching, raking, sweeping, whipper snipping, trimming, weeding and spraying of pesticides/herbicides etc) Planting and maintaining trees and gardens, including pruning for shrubs and other plants as requiredMinor landscape construction – retaining walls, garden edges, paving, irrigation infrastructureEngaging with residents and visitors in a customer focused manner, fostering positive relationshipsCompleting administrative and reporting duties associated with maintenance activitiesAssisting the Management team with additional tasks as neededPerforming some general and preventative maintenance tasks around the village in an organised and proactive mannerTo excel in this role, you should possess: Hands-on experience primarily in gardening maintenance, showcasing attention to detail Some experience in building maintenance tasksInitiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work autonomouslyProblem solving skills and a commitment to safe work practicesStrong interpersonal and communication abilities, with a customer-centric approach Adaptability to work in various weather conditionsA valid drivers licence and proof of Australian work rightsA current national police or willingness to obtain oneIf you are ready to take on this rewarding opportunity, please submit your current resume and a cover letter detailing your suitability for the position.
