We have a 12 month opportunity for a Catchment Ranger to join our small, highly motivated and dynamic source protection team. The successful candidate will be working across operational sites, catchment areas and treatment facilities to monitor and maintain source protection areas and other parcels of land, within the Great Southern Region.The main accountabilities will include:Monitor, maintain and manage the security of surface water catchments and groundwater reserves across the region and take responsibility for other non-source related land holdings including fire mitigation and management activities.Undertake routine surveillance and Bylaw enforcement during daytime and after hour's patrols.Conduct surface and ground water sampling and monitoring.Inspect and maintain dam structures and outlet works in accordance with Water Corporation dam safety policy and planned inspection and maintenance schedules.Procure and manage contractors performing works on Water Corporation Source protection and other non-operational sites.Provide support to other agencies including Police, Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions, Department of Water and Environmental regulation, Department of Fisheries and Department of Fire and Emergency Services.Key skills and experience:Working towards Certificate III of National Water Industry Training Package or Extensive Experience in Surface Water Operations including competency to:Undertake catchment surveillance and by-law enforcement.Implement dam's safety management requirements.Operate and maintain large surface water production schemes.Ranger experience demonstrating effective Bylaw enforcement.Undertake catchment inspection and monitoring activities.Work alone in remote areas; large amount of driving/travel.Effectiveness in policing by-law enforcement.Communication and interpersonal skills to be able to deal with internal and external customer enquiries and resolve conflicts.Highly desirable attributes:Demonstrated understanding of Bylaw enforcement and supporting enforcement actions including prosecutions/infringements.Demonstrated experience in a Fire protection environment.Western Australian – HR class Heavy Vehicle Licence.ApplyIf you are interested in the above opportunity please submit a covering letter and resume that best demonstrates your ability to meet the requirements of the role.Please note: By applying for this role, you are consenting to your current and previous line managers being contacted as references.
