Are you a Qualified Motor Mechanic keen to secure an opportunity to carry out preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and approved modifications in a clean environment to well-maintained CFA appliances?

During the first 12 months, the successful candidate may progress from DMO Grade 1 to DMO Grade 3 and should this progression take place, the salary will increase to $77,550.
All tools and equipment are supplied. This role will see you work in our Moe workshop from the hours of 7:15am to 4:15pm, plus work a 9-day fortnight.
CFA critically relies on its fleet of firefighting and specialist appliances in order to meet its service delivery obligations to Victorian communities. The Fleet Maintenance department is part of the Fleet & Protective Equipment team and is responsible for the maintenance, refurbishment and disposal of over 2000 first response appliances and equipment.
Grade 1 District Mechanical Officers (DMO's) carry out mechanical tasks associated with the maintenance and servicing of fleet assets as directed by the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) ensuring relevant safety standards and CFA maintenance procedures are adhered to.
Your days will see you showcase your skills undertaking the following tasks:
Under the direction of the workshop OIC, carrying out preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and approved modifications to fleet assets.
Ensuring fleet assets are maintained in accordance with appropriate industry standards and relevant CFA maintenance procedures.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation on work performed.
Creation of electronic Work Orders utilising CFA software.
Liaison with Brigade members regarding proposed work and work performed.
Maintaining reporting to the Officer-in-Charge on maintenance, administrative and technical matters.
Ensuring that Industrial Safety Standards are observed.
About You
The successful applicant will have the following:
Motor Mechanic Qualification and hold a Heavy Rigid Driver Licence (note: Heavy Rigid drivers' licence can be obtained within time frames set out by CFA if not held).
You must also have the skills and ability to maintain safety at an Incident Scene and render assistance to others (First Aid L2) (note: this can be obtained within the timeframes set out by CFA if not held).
Furthermore, you will have proven ability to work as part of a team and actively participate in team discussions. Crucial to your success will be your ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written, you will have a proven ability to maintain a safe work environment and a proactive and energetic attitude with the initiative to seek tasks and challenges.
