About the role As the SQL Developer you will provide a high level of expertise in the development, support, maintenance and delivery of a variety of computer applications for the provision of client valued and effective support services. Key responsibilities Maintain knowledge of a range of technical specialisms and provide expert advice regarding development, support and maintenance of departmental application, specifically, with a deep understanding of Microsoft SQL and Database Administration Undertake system design, development and ongoing maintenance in relation to support, maintenance and enhancement of applications and systems, including developing strategies and criteria for the testing of application features using valid, structured test plans and documentation and ensuring that the interfaces of systems are operational, documented and understood. Designs, codes, tests, corrects and documents complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications, and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result. Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work Translates logical designs into physical designs, and produces detailed design documentation. Maps work to user specification and removes errors and deviations from specification to achieve user-friendly processes Highly desirable Proficiency in writing, optimizing, and debugging complex queries and stored procedures. Expertise in managing large datasets with efficient indexing and query performance. Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks and improving query efficiency. Proficient in handling complex data types and advanced SQL features. Deep understanding of database schema design, data modelling, and relationships between multiple tables.
