Narrogin Senior High School (NSHS) is seeking a strategic, dynamic and innovative leader to join our executive leadership team in the position of Associate Principal.
About the Role
A main focus will be Quality Teaching and Learning. This role will be well suited to an exemplary and high performing secondary leader who has a strong track record in managing change in developing a culture of reflection, collaboration and innovation in the classroom.
As an integral member of the executive leadership team, you will lead and develop innovative solutions; establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with stakeholders, and build a culture of professional excellence with leaders, teachers and allied staff so that students are future-ready and able to contribute effectively in the wider community.
The suitable applicant will have demonstrated outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving exceptional educational outcomes for all students: student engagement is our priority. Ideally these skills will see you negotiate effectively and develop and maintain strong relationships with staff and students. As the successful applicant you would establish a performance and development culture through a deep understanding of how to coach beginning and experienced staff and build their confidence to explore and excel in cultivating their practices. Maintaining an efficient timetable and allocating human resources including relief will be extremely advantageous considering this is an operational task associated to this role.
The successful applicant would lead the school’s Quality Teaching and Learning priority. Ideally you will be an expert in current pedagogical research and the role that leaders play in transforming learning. You will lead a team of staff to embed and review the school’s Teaching and Learning Framework that supports best practice.
With a school-wide focus on student achievement, you will identify and implement professional learning opportunities for staff that are aligned with school learning plans and NSHS priorities. Through the provision of regular and effective feedback, you should review, monitor and motivate staff to keep their skills current through the use of research and new technologies.
The successful applicant will lead and support other leaders and staff to enact the school’s vision and mobilise key priorities of the NSHS Strategic Plan. As a highly visible leader, you will exhibit a love of learning and a growth mindset. Currency in contemporary understanding of leading school improvement, change initiatives and the ability to effectively use evidence-based data to inform decision-making should underpin your successful practice. As a highly successful instructional leader, you will ideally possess strong professional knowledge to lead quality differentiation of curriculum, learning and assessment that reflect contemporary pedagogical research and practices so that our students are equipped with 21st century skills.
The successful applicant will exhibit a broad skillset with the capacity to provide leadership in the key domains of Curriculum and Quality Teaching and Learning accompanied by overseeing Lower School. The successful applicant should possess appropriate knowledge and transferable skills that would allow them to lead the other portfolios as needed.
Creating and promoting an environment conducive to active and positive learning, and which caters for different student learning needs, is essential. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of instructional approaches, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices will be considered favourably.

Narrogin SHS is an Independent Public School and situated in the heart of Western Australia's rich agricultural area and with over 650 students we are the largest Senior High School in the region, with three local feeder primary schools and TAFE that work closely with the school. Narrogin is a major service and educational centre approximately two hours drive (193 km) from Perth and has the convenience of a country town with the benefits of a regional city.
