Reports to the General Manager AFL Cairns & Manunda Hawks Football Club President. EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time (2-year fixed term contract), 38 hours per week. Out of hours work will be required. This is a unique opportunity to work full time in coaching and sports administration. We are also proud to have Cairns Hawks Juniors which was established in 1987 and the Manunda Hawks Women's AFL Club which was started in 2003. Objective To co-ordinate all off field football activities for the Club to ensure that all players and off field staff are provided with the highest level of support to enable them to compete and perform at the highest level. Creating a professional environment for the footballers and staff representing the Manunda Hawks Football Club. Senior Coach Minimum AFL Level 2 Coaching Accreditation. Key desire to provide leadership and guidance. Relationship driven. Strong football knowledge and understanding, extensive coaching experience (highly desirable). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A commitment to learning & development – and a willingness to assist build a continuous improvement culture. Responsibilities In collaboration with the Football Director, recruit and build the Manunda Hawks Football Club playing list by attracting the best talent available. Budget & contraction of players. Providing ongoing support and development of all players & staff within the football department - including mentoring players and/or staff & manage Colts & YG18 players transitioning into Seniors. Assist other Committee members in their duties as required. Administration In conjunction with the Football Director, control all football related matters and communications with and to AFL Cairns, including PlayHQ. Pre-Season Oversee Coach's accreditation compliance in both Senior & Junior clubs. Formulate remuneration packages and contracts for players and coaches and ensure the contracts are executed. Ensure that all contracts fall within the allocated budget and that variations are brought to the Football President and Committee prior to the Club being committed. Together with the Football Director, Treasurer, manage all aspects of the Football Budget. In collaboration with the Football Director, appoint appropriate personnel, or ensure they are appointed: Team Managers. Trainers/Medical Staff. Runners and other support staff to ensure smooth running on game days. Negotiate all clearances, transfers and player registrations in accordance with the league rules. During season Provide documentation in consultation with the Treasurer, all player payments and coaching fees. Liaise between players, coaches and Committees and Juniors Committee. Ensure all equipment is available, as required by Coaches and/or League, and that it is in good working order, including match balls. Ensure all volunteer support staff are in attendance, hold the necessary licences/certifications (i.e. Coaching Accreditation, WWCC, RSA etc.), provided with appropriate equipment and training to undertake their specific role. Oversee the management of all training and match equipment. Oversee coordination submission of team sheets and match reports after both home and away games. In collaboration with the Football President, manage all Manunda Hawks Football Club tribunal hearings or ensure they are supported by quality advocates. Ensure equipment, e.g. jumpers, training equipment and footballs owned by Club are retained by Club. Assist where required in all football club related events to ensure that the Club is fully represented by the football department including players & coaches. Player Welfare Program Assist with player welfare program for 1st to 3rd year players. Assist with any player development/welfare needs. Assist with ensuring players transition to the Club and assist with employment, university and accommodation. Community/Schools Assist AFLQ with development of football programs in school clinics within Manunda Hawks region. Develop key sustainability plans to ensure longevity of all Diversity and Youth programs. Build relationships by creating an insightful link between the Manunda Hawks and youth in the area. Assist with delivery of culture awareness program/s. AFLW/Juniors Program Provide education and leadership to Manunda Hawks AFLCW/Junior's program. Assist Coaches with training and education resources. Assist with setting goals and working towards a plan to help develop a sustainable AFLCW/Junior's program.
