Established in 1998, the Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory.
KWHB is located on the far western side of the Katherine region in Australia's Northern Territory, a sprawling region of beautiful river and desert country.
We operate seven health centres across our very large region, with the four main centres located in Kalkaringi, Lajamanu, Timber Creek and Yarralin.

Prioritise and coordinate the delivery of child health services based on needs identified through surveillance of the child health program.
Provide leadership in child health across multidisciplinary teams to ensure a high-quality holistic approach to the delivery of child health care in the region.
Provide clinical leadership to Primary Health Care centre staff in relation to identification and treatment of disease identified in children in the KWHB region Participate in quality improvement activities for the child health program to ensure the provision of high-quality care to children in the region This role will involve regular travel, typically spending at least half of your time out in surrounding remote communities, staying overnight and travelling via 4WD, dirt roads and light aircraft as required.
Is this role right for you?
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a general registered nurse with current full authority to practice At least 3-5 years post graduate experience with demonstrated advanced clinical skills and competencies applicable to remote area nursing A clear respect for Aboriginal culture, ability to listen and learn and willingness to participate in cross cultural awareness activities as directed by KWHB Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, antecedents of health, principles of primary health care and relevant state/national legislation governing work practice in the Northern Territory Current NT manual drivers' licence, Criminal History Clearance and NT Ochre Card or ability to obtain What's it like living in Katherine?
This unique opportunity is in the town of Katherine which is approximately 300km south of Darwin.
Katherine is a well-equipped regional town with a shopping centre that features a supermarket and many specialty shops.
With a population of around 11,000, the population of the region is just over 24,000 people, of which 60% identify as Indigenous.
Katherine is on the edge of Kakadu National Park which is filled with some of the world's best waterfalls and bush walks.
Katherine itself is a region full of gorges and misty waterfalls, hot springs and ancient cultures.
