We are hiring in the following TWO distinct categories: Experienced Applicants: For those with prior industry experience who are ready to hit the ground running.
Entry-Level Applicants: For individuals looking to develop new skills attend the TEMPO training and start a career in outdoor operations.
TEMPO is Council's internally managed pool of casual and temporary employees dedicated to fulfilling placements in various outdoor operations, including Roads, Construction, Water, Waste, Natural Environment and Parks.

What You Should Have to Apply: For Both Intakes: Physically fit and enthusiastic about outdoor work and manual tasks.
Willingness to work as a casual relief team member across various departments.
Strong work ethic, motivation, and a willingness to learn.
Ability to work safely, follow instructions, and comply with workplace policies.
Commitment to teamwork, effective communication, and positive workplace interactions.
Queensland General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain one before starting.
Willingness to undergo a police check.
Current driver's licence (or ability to access reliable transport to work locations across Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Tiaro, and Oakhurst).
Ability to provide suitable proof of identity (e.g., driver's licence, passport, proof of age card, etc.).

Experienced Applicants We are looking for candidates who have: Prior experience in outdoor operations, construction, maintenance, or a similar field.
Experience operating machinery, power tools, or heavy vehicles.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., traffic control, chainsaw operation, machinery licences).
The ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a team environment.
A strong understanding of workplace safety and compliance with policies and procedures.

Entry-Level Applicants (Training Pathway) We also welcome applicants who may not yet have experience but are: Highly motivated and eager to learn new skills.
Enthusiastic about working outdoors and undertaking manual tasks.
Committed to teamwork, safety, and following instructions.
Open to participating in Council's TEMPO training program to gain hands-on experience.
If you are interested in a role but don't quite have the experience yet, we would still love to receive your application!
Successful entry-level applicants will complete TEMPO training before being placed in roles to help build the skills needed for success.
What to Expect from the Role: Successful applicants will assist with various outdoor operations, including: Footpath and pavement construction and maintenance.
Concrete, bitumen, and asphalt works.
Installation and maintenance of drainage systems, kerbs, and channels.
Landscaping, gardening, and turf maintenance.
Cleaning and maintenance of outdoor assets and infrastructure.
Operation of power tools, machinery, and electronic equipment.
Driving and operating motor vehicles (Medium and Heavy Rigid licences highly desirable but not compulsory).
Work Conditions: Placements are generally Monday to Friday, with hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Work locations will vary across the Fraser Coast region.
