Job Description
In collaboration with Settlement Services International and with the support from the Department of Education, Charter Australia is aiming to deliver traineeship training tailored specifically for asylum seekers in the health services sector.
The Program would aim to address the challenges asylum seekers face in securing sustainable and skilled employment by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge and producing employment outcomes.
A traineeship is a great way to achieve nationally recognised qualifications all whilst getting paid from day one. The successful candidates will undergo a combination of on-the-job training with an employer of your choice to achieve your Certificate III in Individual Support qualification.
You will be assigned both a dedicated work supervisor and a Charter Australia’s qualified trainer for your entire traineeship to assist you every step of the way and lead you to success.
As an AIN, you will make a positive impact on the lives of the older people with your compassionate and supportive approach;
assist clients with their personal care needs such as showering, dressing and eating
Assist clients with their mobility and communication needs
participate in planning the care of individuals
follow therapy plans such as interventions to assist those with dementia and behavioural problems
observe and report changes in clients’ condition, and report complaints about care
assist with rehabilitation exercises, basic treatment and delivering medications
provide direct support and assistance to therapists

Requirements
Eligibility for Traineeship Pilot Program - Asylum seekers
It is essential that candidates for this pilot program can meet the Smart & Skilled eligibility requirements and other general entry requirements for enrolment. This will ensure that the project gives candidates the very best opportunity of meeting employer expectations and securing full time employment.
3. Candidates who already hold a Certificate III in Individual Support and/or Certificate IV in Ageing Support are not eligible for this pilot project.
4. Candidates must be physically able to lift and carry small equipment and operate equipment to assist people in their mobility.
5. Candidates should hold evidence of an Australian police clearance/police check equivalent prior to commencing the pre-employment training.
6. Candidates are required to be vaccinated against COVID (minimum 3 x doses) prior to employment. Some employers may also require influenza vaccination.
7. Candidates will require a Tax File number for employment.
8. Candidates require sufficient spoken English to communicate with educators and employers/aged care residents.
9. Candidates require sufficient reading and numeracy skills (in English) to complete training and assessment (Year 10 Australian or equivalent or CIII Level qualification completed in Australia).
10. Candidates should be committed to ongoing learning and ability to work effectively in a team.
