This is a part-time opportunity with a FTE of 0.8 based in Sunshine. Travel to different site locations may be required (Northern/Western/Central parts of Melbourne).
About the Opportunity
Melbourne City Mission (MCM) is a leading community services organisation that innovatively works alongside thousands of Victorians and their communities to overcome barriers experienced through Homelessness, Disability, Palliative care, Early Childhood Intervention Services and Education.
The Melbourne City Mission Youth Refuges aim to provide safe, secure short-term accommodation for young people aged 16–24 years experiencing homelessness and assist them in moving towards independent living.
The service provides accommodation, support, counselling, information and assistance to young people based on their needs (e.g., Centrelink, health and legal services) and support in finding suitable accommodation options.
Melbourne City Mission operates four Youth Refuges across Melbourne – Stopover; WRAP, Iramoo and Vicky's Place.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the WRAP Youth Refuge.
* Lead and supervise the team.
* Ensure young people receive a high-quality service.
* Provide expert advice relating to Youth Refuge provision.
Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work or related fields.
* Demonstrated experience in working with people who are at risk or experiencing homelessness.
* Leadership experience in a youth homelessness context.
* Ability to oversee crisis interventions and management strategies.
* Sound understanding of supervision guidelines and best practice principles.
