Key Responsibilities:
As a Transport Operations Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Operations Manager with the day to day administration tasks, coordination and efficiency of our transport operations. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth communication between supervisors, drivers, and clients while maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. Further, you will work closely with the Fleet Controller, with opportunities to develop into the role and provide coverage as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and manage daily communication within the business
• Accurately manifest trailers before departure
• Ensure drivers receive correct paperwork prior to leaving the depot
• Data entry of customer collections via online systems and phone calls
• Support schedulers with email and phone inquiries
• Prioritise next day deliveries for local trucks
• Organise onforwarding deliveries and bookings with local carriers
• Ensure all driver paperwork is completed accurately and on time
• Perform sweeps of the depot floor to check for any missing freight
• Verify freight on the floor, and ensure all items have the correct paperwork.
• Provide support to other departments when required
• Maintain compliance with company policies and safety procedures
What We’re Looking For:
• At least 2 years administrative experience working in a transport and logistics environment
• Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, clients and fellow staff members
• Familiar with bookings and coordination of transport carriers
• Experience in customer service (preferred)
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail
• Excellent planning, organisation, and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
