About the role
Join our dynamic PTA Project Delivery Division at the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and contribute to the successful delivery of the High Capacity Signalling (HCS) and Radio Systems Replacement (RSR) projects – PTA’s major transport infrastructure projects. The Project Engineer - Rollingstock role will provide vital technical support to the designated project team, ensuring that rolling stock engineering solutions are designed, built, and maintained safely, cost-effectively, and in line with quality objectives. The role will assist with the planning and design of rolling stock systems, perform inspections, and prepare detailed reports on project progress. The role will also conduct research and prepare project-specific reports, contributing to the smooth execution and management of the projects.
Additionally, the Project Engineer Rollingstock will be responsible for contributing to the preparation of technical specifications and ensuring asset management data is updated as necessary.
The Project Engineer Rollingstock will play a key role in supporting contract development, tender evaluations, and contract administration; and will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, providing feedback and recommendations to the project teams.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
* Possession of a degree in Engineering meeting the requirements for professional membership of Engineers Australia, with proven experience in the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure development projects.
* Experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of engineering systems within an operational railway environment, with strong knowledge of engineering practices and the ability to manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
* Demonstrated experience in contract development and management, with the ability to work effectively with contractors in a public transport infrastructure project setting.
* Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, including the use of relevant computer packages and technology.

There is currently one full time, fixed term appointment for five years with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency available for immediate start. Applicants assessed as suitable through this pool recruitment process may be used to fill similar vacancies that may arise within the next 12 months.
To be eligible to work at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid work visa until December 2029.
