This opportunity
The Account Manager position is responsible for the ongoing development and retention of existing Government accounts at a state and local government level and customer relationships within the allocated Government portfolio and provide ad-hoc support when required to the Victorian Government Client Partner.
Responsibilities
1. Take overall responsibility for the ongoing development and deepening of existing sales and customer relationships within the Victorian Government portfolio
2. Review current state and develop/continually improve sales plans for each of TPG’s products and services, for each agency or department within the allocated portfolio
3. Successfully maintain the value of the existing portfolio through effective customer lifecycle management and completion of re-sign activities that maximise commercial outcomes
4. Achieve key monthly, quarterly, and annual growth/x-sell sales objectives, building on effective base management to consistently grow (value and product breadth) the allocated portfolio
5. Maintain up to date and accurate customer contact, pipeline, and any other required information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, i.e., Salesforce.
6. Ensure government reporting and compliance is up to date, via an internal stakeholder relationship with the Government contracts manager
7. Attend weekly sales team meetings to review the quality and accuracy of Salesforce pipeline
8. Review week on week sales activity and key pipeline movements
9. Agree kick off and approach to any upcoming tenders and opportunities
10. Review status of all active tenders
11. Review short- and long-term Customer relationship quality and key relationship development activities
12. Review open customer issues, actively assisting in resolutions and ensuring timely escalation (e.g., to Sales Leadership) wherever required
13. Provide ad-hoc support to the Victorian Government Client Partner as and when required
14. Represent TPG at Government-related vertical meetings and trade events whenever requested, continually promoting the company and its services.
15. Keep track on local competitor activity, reporting any significant developments to the sales team and TPG executives (including Sales, Product, Service etc)
Knowledge and experience
16. Highly experienced in using a “Government solutions” type approach, utilising TPG’s product and services to identify customer needs within the portfolio
17. Able to creatively position TPG as an innovative, flexible, and responsive service provider to customers
18. Ability to proactively identify and create growth opportunities within the allocated customer base
19. Proven cultivator and ‘closer’ of sales opportunities at the Government Agency level
20. Strong understanding of how to farm and manager accounts up to and including senior executive level within the Government vertical
21. Excellent communication skills at all levels, including at senior executive level within the Government vertical
22. Excellent presentation skills
23. Minimum of five years’ experience in a comparable position
24. Management of high value Government vertical portfolios in the same or a similar market section, including the management of multi-million-dollar portfolios, multi-million-dollar retention and multi-million-dollar growth opportunities
25. A long term, proven track record in over achievement of sales targets, including selling in at senior executive level, within a closely comparable industry
