The Onboarding and Connections (O&C) division manages AEMO’s end to end process for connecting, registering, and commissioning generators into the National Electricity Market (NEM) and new Gas Market Participants. The Market Registrations team facilitates and manages the onboarding experience through collaborative, impartial and robust working relationships with all stakeholders. This in-depth process is key for anyone entering and/or participating in the NEM or the National Gas Market.
About the role
The role entails all aspects of stakeholder engagement, coordination with internal and external stakeholders to assist in solving complex market registration and onboarding processes. To facilitate and ensure the beneficial registration and onboarding related outcomes are achieved through collaboration, analysis, education and leadership. This engagement involves working through regulatory change that impact Market Registration to deliver outcomes that improve the energy markets AEMO operate.
What you will be doing
* Proactively lead successful delivery of operational activities including stakeholder engagement through application assessments and onboarding activities.
* Provide recommendations for registration improvements and identifying opportunities to streamline AEMOs Registration function.
* Prepare clear, concise, and high quality written and verbal communication to inform internal or external stakeholders on a range of issues for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Provide mentoring, coaching and expert guidance and frameworks for team members continuous improvement and development.
* Reinforce a service-oriented co-design culture, based on partnerships and close collaboration within AEMO and across industry.
* Ensure that decision making is fact-based, robustly documented, pragmatic and transparent.
* Ensure written communication and documentation prepared by the team is clear, concise, and appropriate for the intended audience (both technical and non-technical) before recommending management approval.
* Proactively build AEMO’s reputation as a trusted partner to AEMO teams, generation developers, government, Network Service Providers, Market Participants, and stakeholders.
What you will bring to the role
Education/ Certificates
* Tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in commerce, business project management and/or active industry experience
* Regulatory/policy qualifications to support the above would be considered useful
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience in energy markets or in a compliance or regulatory role.
* A confident and proactive attitude towards engaging with stakeholders.
* Demonstrated experience in shaping and delivering process improvements across a variety of stakeholders with conflicting interests, negotiating agreed outcomes, and delivering these on time and on budget.
* Flexible approach to adapting to industry, regulatory and policy changes.
* Understanding of the Gas and NEM Rules framework.
* Understanding of the challenges experienced by generation developers and their commercial drivers or constraints.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations under stringent environments and timeframes.
