Great benefits and work environment Job Reference: 953799 About the Role: We are looking for a dedicated Research Fellow or Research Associate to lead the Burden of Disease analysis activities of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Climate Change and Health Impact Assessment and contribute to the NHMRC HEAL National Research Network on Environmental Change and Health.
This is a full-time, 24-month fixed-term position that plays a vital role in understanding and addressing the impact of environmental hazards on population health across Australia.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health impact assessment, environmental health, and data analysis.
To learn more about the School of Population Health: https://www.curtin.edu.au/about/learning-teaching/health-sciences/curtin-school-of-population-health/ In this role, you will, but are not limited to: Coordinate the analysis activities focused on Burden of Disease as part of the research programme on Climate Change and Health.
Compile and analyse health impact data related to various environmental hazards.
Develop innovative health and environmental data assets while creating essential environmental health indicators.
Establish definitions for vulnerability stratification to effectively evaluate population risk factors.
Collaborate closely with project partners, including the WHO, the HEAL Network and Technical Working Groups.
Engage actively in translating and communicating research findings through journal publications, government reports, policy briefs and conference presentations.
Selection Criteria – who we are looking for: A doctoral qualification or progress towards a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Epidemiology, Burden of Disease, Environmental Health, Biostatistics, Health Geography, Health Promotion, Demography, or a related field.
Evidence of substantial engagement with interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research, demonstrated through leadership or significant contributions within cross-disciplinary research teams, co-authorship of research outputs that bridge multiple disciplines and integration of methods or insights across different fields.
Evidence of research quality and impact through publication in high-quality refereed outlets, demonstrated by journal rankings, citation indices and other esteem measures.
Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
Desirable Commitment to capacity building for colleagues and students in the wider research group.
A history of submitting competitive grant applications and managing contractual arrangements and expenditure.
Demonstrated ability to supervise HDR students.
Role Requirements: As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the duration of this role.
