Katherine Hospital Maternity Unit supports approximately 215 births a year and cares for women with all-risk pregnancy profiles. Approximately 70% of mothers giving birth in Katherine Hospital identify as First Nations and the unit works closely with its Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) partners. If you are an experienced midwife seeking a new experience, this is an opportunity for you.

The main township is Katherine, with a population of approximately 10,800 residents, marking the point where the traditional lands of the Jawoyn, Dagoman and Wardaman people converge, and the remainder of the population live across more than 20 remote communities, 100 outstations, cattle stations, and mining sites in the region.
