The Australian Red Cross Young Parents Program (YPP) works to ensure best outcomes for children and families by improving the capacity of young parents with complex needs aged 13 to 25, to live and parent independently.
This program is designed to meet the needs of pregnant and parenting young women and men who are unable to access elsewhere the safety, security and support required to parent effectively.
Job Description:
The YPP Manager is responsible for the operational and strategic management, implementation, monitoring and compliance of the YPP.
This role manages several positions, including Operations and Administration, Team Leaders of Residential, Outreach and Aftercare, Family Education and Community Support teams.
The Residential program is located in Randwick, with Outreach and Aftercare sites in Parramatta, Gosford and Nowra.
Requirements:
Substantial experience in Social Work, Community Development, Early Childhood, Welfare, Health or related disciplines is required.
Demonstrated therapeutic case management skills, including experience developing and monitoring case plans with clients.
Excellent client motivation skills, particularly with young people with challenging behaviours and a history of non-engagement with services.
Demonstrated understanding of parent craft, child development, healthcare needs of babies/children and best practice in parenting newborns, toddlers and younger children.
Cultural competence, including demonstrated understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and experience providing effective cultural support.
Willingness and ability to do weekday shift work, including morning shifts, evening shifts and sleepovers, along with the ability to regularly travel, work flexible hours and be "On-call" on a regular basis.
Senior leadership experience in identifying and managing operational, reputational and financial risk and achieving consistency and compliance.
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in child protection and management, which may include social work, psychology, youth work, welfare, health, education, child protection and/or early childhood.
Working With Children Check.
Australian Driver's Licence.
