What you'll do
The role focusses on all commercial aspects of the Australian Government business. You will be responsible for ensuring that all non-standard deals, cases, commercial projects and Capture plans within your remit are appropriately constructed with an efficient balance of risk and return. Working within the Viasat International Government team and across the wider organisation you will build consensus and support for non-standard deals, Gather plans, commercial projects and ensure each one has conformed to the appropriate levels of commercial governance.
The day-to-day
1. Lead all Commercial Management activities related to the assigned area(s) including non-standard deals, gather planning and commercial-related projects and governance.
2. Lead high-quality proposals and offers ensuring that they are commercially valid, deliverable and include appropriate and relevant terms and conditions.
3. Contribute to activities and initiatives that enable Sales to perform their role with independence.
4. Conduct gate reviews for deals, bids, gather plans and commercial projects to secure support from other functions, senior sponsorship, investments relating to resourcing or capability gaps and authorisation to proceed.
5. Contribute to the development of cases for new products and services.
6. Apply commercial governance throughout all of the deal and case development cycles.
7. Support, and where appropriate, lead contractual negotiations.
8. Ensure that all deals and cases have a robust and detailed financial analysis.
9. Contribute to continuous improvement activities to accelerate the team’s ability to perform the role at growing scale.
10. Other tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably required.
What you'll need
1. Experience in giving to capture programs.
2. Experience handling/developing contractual frameworks, preferably in the Government market.
3. Excellent writing skills combined with high level of skill in using Microsoft Office products.
4. Strong communication skills in collaborating with others.
5. An enquiring mind to test that we have brought together all that is required to bring together an order.
6. Strong negotiation skills that ensure efficient outcomes from any contract negotiation.
What will help you on the job
1. Degree Qualified in finance, legal or commerce.
2. Experience in Capture and Bid methodologies, such as Shipley.
3. Experience in a Defence, Telecommunications or Satellite Communications environment.
4. An understanding of contract law.
