Join us as the Communities and Social Performance Superintendent for our client. This strategic leadership role will see you leading a team of dedicated community engagement, corporate affairs, and cultural specialists to drive impactful social performance and human rights initiatives.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the General Manager to develop and implement robust strategies that foster the company’s commitment to community engagement, cultural respect, and human rights.
Our client is a leading producer of zinc, lead, and bulk concentrates, with operations located in Northern Australia. Their open-cut mine supplies global customers with quality products while prioritising sustainable practices and strong community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop comprehensive Communities and Social Performance Strategies.
* Oversee and implement Human Rights, Social Performance, and Cultural Heritage standards, policies, and procedures.
* Establish and implement stakeholder, human rights, and social performance management plans and systems; management of client's site office location in Borooloola.
* Build understanding and capabilities in community and social performance across operational areas.
* Coordinate social risk analysis, impact assessment, assurance, and management for social performance, human rights, and cultural heritage.
* Develop operational knowledge within the department to anticipate community-related risks and impacts.
* Foster a common language and promote collaboration in community and social performance strategy development across the business.
Our Ideal Candidate:
* Relevant tertiary qualification/s in area such as public participation, social science, cultural heritage, social impact and/or community engagement.
* Senior experience in a similar Community Engagement or Principal Advisor role.
* Demonstrated experience leading teams with responsibilities for developing and implementing communities and social performance strategies for mining and/or infrastructure projects.
* Experience working closely with Indigenous local communities or organisations.
* Ability to engage directly with stakeholders to understand community needs while respecting local culture and decision making.
* Expert level of cross-cultural awareness and understanding of how cultural diversity contributes to the business outcomes.
* Demonstrated initiative in implementing strategies which contribute to the organisation’s social performance and licence to operate.
* Superior communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* A high level of emotional intelligence including resilience, self-awareness and the ability to handle complex daily challenges.
* Ability to deliver agreed results in a timely manner and within budget.
