Why your Role Matters
The Director, People & Culture Business Partnering, will not only play a significant strategic operational management role as a pivotal member of our People and Culture Executive Leadership Team, this Director role will also work across our People and Culture community and our broader UNSW Community, embedding and bringing to life synergies with what we do day to day in People and Culture, and our overarching UNSW Strategy : ‘Progress for All’.
This role will be responsible for leading and continuing to drive the evolution of our existing Business Partnering model. As we evolve as a university, our approach to partnering is evolving with it. This role will drive a focus on strategic partnering; using data and insights to drive decisions, preparing for the future of work, and strengthening culture and employee experience through coaching and empowering leaders to think differently. It goes without saying that this role has a core and inherent Business Partnering operational focus, but as we continue on our exciting transformation and process optimisation journey, we are also looking for an innovative Director level leader who can identify and navigate inventive solutions in a complex organisational environment.
As the Director, People & Culture Business Partnering you will play a key role in fostering a high performing, engaged UNSW workforce and community by integrating contemporary People and Culture practices and championing transformation across the University.
Reporting directly into the Chief People Officer (CPO), you’ll work collaboratively to shape the future of Business Partnering at UNSW, and help create a dynamic and future-ready workforce, designed to address the evolving needs of the higher education landscape with both forethought and purpose.
Skills & Experience summary
We're seeking an innovative leader to develop strategies that foster engagement and drive meaningful, effective change where needed. Holding extensive experience as a Director of Business Partnering you will also have :
* Extensive experience in leading a strategic HR / P&C function, with a strong understanding of contemporary business partnering models.
* Proven experience in transforming a P&C operating model, enabling strategic partnering and evolving partnership with the business.
* Demonstrated ability to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders to drive change and transformation.
* Experience in leading and managing HR / P&C teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
* Strong expertise in workforce strategy, talent management, and organizational capability development.
* A track record of implementing HR / P&C transformation initiatives that improve efficiency and employee experience.
* Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and influence across a decentralized environment.
* Deep knowledge of employment law, industrial relations, and HR best practices.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
* High level of emotional intelligence, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, or a related field.
