Sheet Metal Apprentice

Sheet metal fabrication is a specialized trade that is in high demand, with constant opportunities in industries such as construction, HVAC, and aerospace.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work on a variety of projects including manufacturing and repairing HVAC systems, constructing metal roofs and walls, and creating custom metal products for various industries.
* Learn to read technical drawings, take accurate measurements, use various cutting and shaping tools, and assemble metal components.
* Gain valuable skills in the sheet metal industry through hands-on training and guidance from experienced tradespeople.
* Complete full-time work hours of 38 per week.
Training and Development:
* Study drawings and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions, and installation procedures.
* Measure materials using various tools such as rulers, tapes, and micrometers.
* Cut, bend, shape, and join sheet metal using various tools such as shears, press brakes, and welding machines.
* Operate computer-aided design (CAD) and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce sheet metal parts and components.
* Prepare surfaces for finishing by cleaning, grinding, or sanding.
* Assemble and install sheet metal products and components.
* Troubleshoot and repair sheet metal products and components.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and safe production processes.
* Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
* Maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
Requirements:
* Genuine interest in the sheet metal industry and a desire to learn and develop new skills.
* Basic understanding of maths, measurements, and technical drawings.
* Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
* Physical fitness and the ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment.
* Strong commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
* Reliable and punctual work ethic.
* Good communication skills and the ability to take direction from experienced tradespeople.
* Completed or currently undertaking relevant technical or vocational education and training.
