Job Title: Registered Midwife, Early Parenting Centre
About the Role
Grampians Health's Early Parenting Centre in Lucas, Ballarat Victoria offers day stay and residential services to support mothers, fathers, parents, carers, and families with children up to four years old. The centre provides essential services through a dedicated nurse-led multidisciplinary team.
The foundation of high-quality service delivery relies on a robust nursing leadership team, led by Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurses, offering oversight and support for the clinical team. A collaborative clinical team, anchored by MCH Nurses, registered nurses, registered midwives, and enrolled nurses, augmented by allied health professionals like social workers, psychologists, and specialists including Aboriginal health care workers and General Practitioners.
The service will provide flexible targeted services including group sessions, day stay, 4-night stay program, outreach and telehealth to enhance the parent-child relationship and support parents with strategies to achieve their parenting goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical service to admitted families and implement the EPC model of care.
Actively participate in opportunities for further development and learning around early parenting practices.
Work as part of the nurse-led multidisciplinary team to support parents to achieve their parenting goals.
Maintain an understanding of parenting challenges and promote prevention, early intervention and help-seeking opportunities.
Recognise and promote factors that contribute to connection to culture and community diversity, and promote self-determination in decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
Hold a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife.
Demonstrated clinical experience in early maternal health and child health and development.
Ability to work a rotating roster consisting of days and nights throughout the EPC.
Demonstrated understanding of broader issues, current trends and a range of possible strategies associated with the delivery of high-quality treatment modalities to people and families during the perinatal period.
