About the Role
Bethel Lifecare is seeking a Chef to work at our Client's Aged Care Facility in Orange NSW on a Casual basis.
The successful candidate should have experience in catering preferably in the aged care environment, including the provision of special meal requirements and preparation and delivery of a weekly rotating menu.
The role requires a Chef who has good time management and skills in prioritisation and organisation as well as the ability to communicate well with aged people and their families.
Also responsible for quality food preparation, serving of meals to residents, cleaning, and general hospitality duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide quality and effective kitchen management - food preparation, ordering & working collaboratively with the existing catering team
* Work closely with dietary staff and caregivers to maintain accurate records of resident meal preferences and dietary restrictions
* Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely food preparation
* Support the team in maintaining inventory levels and restocking supplies as needed
* Assist in receiving and storing ingredients and supplies
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste
* Follow proper food safety and hygiene practices to ensure a safe and clean kitchen environment.
* Help with plating and garnishing dishes
* Work for the continuous improvement of service delivery to ensure it’s the best it can be, in line with Aged Care Accreditation Standards
* Handling queries and complaints from our clients and their families, as well as your co-workers and other service providers in a confidential and timely approach, in collaboration with your supervisor
* While providing effective and timely services, you’ll treat our clients with respect and recognize their abilities, preferences, and decision-making capacity.
Qualifications
* Certificate III in Hospitality/Commercial Cookery preferred
* Certificate IV in Hospitality/Catering Operations.
* Current First Aid certificate
Skills & Experience
* A good insight into the health, social, or aged care services industries
* Good communication and customer service skills and the ability to get along easily with others
* Good understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and risk management practices
* Great organisation and time management skills.
* Previous experience in aged or community care or a retail or hospitality environment will be highly regarded
* Working knowledge of Food Safety regulations.
