The office of Senator Deborah O'Neill is seeking an ongoing Electorate and Communications Officer based in Erina, on the Central Coast of New South Wales.
About the position
The successful candidate will help coordinate the Senator’s communications with constituents and stakeholders across New South Wales and undertake general office and event support tasks. They will be a confident and capable communicator who is able to work with limited direction and as part of a small and busy team.
Experience in a similar administrative role or previous work in a political office will be highly regarded but is not essential.
Working parents and carers are encouraged to apply, as part-time and job-share arrangements can be negotiated.
The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to:
* Liaising with constituents and stakeholders in person and via telephone, email and post.
* Diary management in coordination with the Office Manager.
* Communicating with government agencies and other organisations.
* Preparing and sending outgoing communications including letters, emails and newsletters.
* Preparing other communications including media releases and social media posts.
* Database management and data entry.
* Organising and attending events and meetings as required.
* Other duties as directed by the Office Manager, Chief of Staff and/or the Senator.
The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
* Accomplished office skills, including computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel)
* Good verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Experience working effectively in a small team with limited oversight.
* Attention to detail and openness to feedback.
* Strong sense of professional integrity, and discretion.
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 which include:
* A commencing salary between $69,046 and $73,098will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills
* An additional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
* An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable
An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
