About the role The HSE Advisor will provide advice and support in driving improvements in HSSE performance through alignment and delivery of UGL HSSE programs, and identification and management of HSSE risks within the business.The position also provides advice to support and maintain a safe and healthy workplace and for adherence to company and clients’ policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace. If adequate laws or policies don’t exist, ensuring practices adopted reflect a commitment to the highest standard in WH&S and environment. About You You will collaborate with the UGL and Client teams, draw on yours and their diverse skills and create an environment where great ideas are heard, and everyone looks out for one another. Ideally you will have: Tertiary qualification (Diploma or greater) in a Workplace Safety and Health related discipline Cert IV Training and Assessment Incident investigation trained (ICAM preferable) Nationally recognised training in confined space entry and working at heights Internal WHS Auditor advantageous Minimum 5 years’ experience in Safety, Health and Environmental in a heavy industrial environment Oil & Gas / Major Hazardous facility process safety experience advantageous Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally Demonstrated ability to work autonomously to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, email Some proficiency in planning, attention to detail and aptitude for quality Must be customer focused, team oriented, accountable and results driven, energetic with a positive can-do and continuous improvement attitude Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn and use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing structure, process, information and/or technology Ability to adopt the Clients HSSE Management System whilst ensuring that UGL’s minimum requirements related to critical risk are met Key responsibility areas Adopt UGL core values of safety, integrity, outstanding customer service, honest and openness in communication and teamwork Monitor workplace behaviours and compliance Actively implement, review and improve the HSSE management system Integrate client and UGL HSSE systems as required Provide advice and coach to Site Management and Supervisors on HSSE reporting, analysis for client and management needs Monitor and interpret relevant HSSE legislation, policies and regulations in order to provide direction and advice to projects which meet statutory and corporate objectives and responsibilitiesInspecting and Auditing project compliance to HSSE system requirements where requiredProvide advice to ensure Business Unit’s compliance with UGL certification and accreditation for AS/NZS 4801 or ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems ISO 14001– Environmental Management Systems Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner accreditation Undertake any ad-hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the HSEQ Lead or in consultation with the Contract ManagerAssist in managing the implementation of return-to-work programs and procedures to ensure that all injuries are managed according to Company and Legislative requirementsDesign and deploy safety culture change initiatives aimed at increasing the focus and attention to safety and environment in the businessProvide safety statistics on a weekly basis for inclusion in weekly and monthly reportsMonitor and review the safety risk profile of contracts and projects to identify areas of improvement and strengtheningInvestigate worksite incidents and occurrences in accordance with the UGL Engineering HSSE requirements and reporting matrix to manage corrective actions ensuring that identified incidents are addressed efficiently and effectively to ensure that Company and Legislative reporting protocols are maintained Responsibilities as outlined in the Engineering HSSE Management System (UGLMS) What we offer Diverse opportunities to grow, back yourself and achieveThe chance to join a 6,000+ strong organisation owned by the CIMIC Group, one of the world's leading international contractorsCompetitive group remuneration and benefits including; health and wellbeing program with company-funded salary continuance insurance, flexible work arrangements - have a chat to us around how this can work for youA culture that values diversity and innovation, evolving with market changes and new technologies What makes you right for UGL Genuine concern for safetyCapacity to flourish in a high-performance environmentAn innovative mindset and a willingness to challenge the norm About Us UGL Pty Limited is a leading provider of end-to-end engineering, construction and maintenance services.
