Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join our subacute occupational therapy team at Caulfield Hospital.
They will work primarily in the Aged Care service providing care to patients in the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) inpatient service, as well as a specialised Delirium and Dementia Unit.
The role of the Occupational Therapist will be to provide high-quality patient-centred and evidence-based OT assessment and intervention to subacute inpatients to maximise occupational performance.
Working closely within the 'Health of Older People' multidisciplinary team, the OT will contribute to complex discharge planning and promotion of safety and quality of life for older people.
Grade 2 clinicians have an important role in leading various teaching/training and quality improvement activities across the Occupational Therapy Service, and will be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of junior Occupational Therapy staff, Allied Health Assistants and/or undergraduate students.
They will be well supported by an experienced Grade 3 senior Occupational Therapist including regular supervision and access to professional development opportunities.
Skills and Experience Required
A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy.
Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, and eligibility for OTA membership.
Clinical experience in subacute occupational therapy and knowledge of client-centred, occupational service delivery for older patients, particularly in the areas of dementia and delirium.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and modify service delivery in accordance with evidence-based practice.
Experience working within an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality rehabilitation.
Experience in supervision of junior staff and students is highly desirable.
