About the Role: Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the Acute Assessment Unit in Dandenong Hospital! We have multiple fixed-term part-time positions with end dates in August, November, and December 2025. As a nurse in the Acute Assessment Unit, you will be working in a fast-paced unit where we see a rapid turnover of patients. You will gain experience caring for patients with varying presentations, ensuring they are able to leave our unit in a timely manner. You will be responsible for undertaking clinical training to deliver a high standard of care and engage in portfolio management associated with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. About Us: AAU is a General Surgical Unit with medical outliers. AAU services 16 beds, admitting patients with, but not limited to general plastic, orthopaedic, colorectal and general surgeries. These patients are projected to have a 24-72hrs stay following assessment and treatment. Further admitted days will result in intra-ward transfers for ongoing care. About You: To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: You are an experienced RN with experience in acute hospital settings. You are a dedicated and compassionate nurse who is enthusiastic about further developing your clinical skills and you seek support and mentoring from those around you. You have previous experience in the acute setting, preferably surgical. You also are skilled at managing patients with diverse and complex health conditions. Your clinical judgement is second to none and you can think critically in all situations. A willingness to learn & grow your leadership capabilities through commitment to a portfolio. On a Personal Level, you: You are someone who loves being busy and who is always striving to be the best nurse you can be. You will be motivated to continue learning, upskilling, and are proactive in supporting and mentoring your colleagues. You enjoy working collaboratively to get the best outcomes for your patients. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring your patients still get the highest level of care. You have a desire to progress your career in General Surgery and Medicine. You will be a member of a recently established team, responsible for contributing to the delivery of evidence-based practice ensuring the highest level of care is provided to our patients.
