About the role
This position is a full-time role in the Development Services team, based at the Moruya Administration Office to provide advice and undertake assessment on planning and regulatory matters. This role will ensure compliance with Council policies and statutory requirements in the protection, preservation and enhancement of the natural and built environment. Your main duties will include:
* Liaising with internal and external customers in providing technical information and advice on Council’s planning, building and environment policies and practices.
* Assessing of legal/professional development applications.
* Take initiative negotiating and resolving disputes and complaints.
* Prepare reports and attend Council meetings when required.
* Conduct special assignments relating to complex matters.
* Lead cadets within their professional development.
Salary Information
Total remuneration for the role is in the range of $91,853.58 to $112,293.96 gross per annum comprising:
* $82,379.89 to $100,712.07 base salary
* $9,473.69 to $11,581.89 superannuation (calculated at 11.5%)
A fully maintained Council leaseback vehicle (including full private usage) is also available with this position!
Appointment to this position is subject to the following:
* A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check.
* Medical clearance to verify that you are safely able to undertake the duties of the position.

About you
Are you a strong communicator with excellent initiative and judgement? This role will be a great opportunity to use your knowledge of building, planning and environmental legislation and put your problem-solving skills to work. Our ideal candidate will have a natural ability to interpret and convey important information and must demonstrate the following:
* Tertiary qualifications in town planning, environmental planning or equivalent.
* Computer literacy with specific expertise in MS office and GIS mapping.
* Experience in negotiation and/or mediation.
* Application of interpersonal skills.
