Vacancy Number 1244 Position Title Construction Inspector Employment Status Fixed term full-time ending 01/01/26 Department Infrastructure Gold Coast Location Nerang Award Classification Stream A - Level 5 Salary $103,520 to $107,812 Hours 40 About the branch The Engineering, Design and Standards Branch is responsible for infrastructure engineering, design, survey, specifications, asset standards, electrical infrastructure and contributed assets across all customer and community facing infrastructure classes. About your new role The Construction Inspector is a?key part of the team which manages the assessment of development applications and supervision of development delivered infrastructure.?The team also supervises the construction of developer contributed water supply and sewerage assets, including trunk infrastructure. The Construction Inspector is an excitingposition primarily managing the on-site component of the team's work and providing input on construction matters during the design phase. Key Role Responsibilities Attending all inspections between prestart and off-maintenance, including hold and witness points, when issues arise on site, and random audit inspections especially during pipe laying works Identifying construction issues on site and liaising with the Assessment Engineer to rectify any design issues Identifying any safety issues during construction and taking appropriate action to ensure rectification Assisting the Assessment Engineers with design review during the: reconfiguring of a lot, material change of use, operational works and connection application phases of assessment to ensure that designed works are constructible and provide a fit for purpose and cost-effective outcome for the City Assisting the Assessment Engineers with review of QA and as constructed materials Working with Assessment Engineers and Network Operations to arrange network shutdowns, as required for live works Coordinating with Compliance officers when non-compliances and illegal works are identified Investigating and managing defects anddamage during the on-maintenance period Attending witness and hold point inspections associated with capital works and trunk infrastructure? About you If you are ready to be part of a great team, in an interesting and challenging position and have the following qualifications or equivalent knowledge, you are encouraged to apply: You hold a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision or equivalent knowledge Substantial knowledge and/or experience in the design and construction of all facets of water and sewer assets Substantial knowledge of the SEQ D&C Code and requirements Knowledge and understanding of legislation and by-laws including: Workplace Health and Safety Act and relevant Code of Practice, Environmental Protection Act, Water Act 2000 Trade certificate/qualification in Plumbing and/or Draining - Desired Competency in written and verbal communication You hold a C Class Drivers Licence Unrestricted You hold a General Construction Induction White Card Working in development assessment is challenging and requires compliance with strict legislative timeframes and assessment rules. To be successful in this position, you will need to be a capable decision maker and understand the relevant standards which apply to water and sewer. You will also be confident on a construction site and comfortable with resolving design and construction issues in a timely manner.
