If what you’ve read so far excites you, read on.Key AccountabilitiesSafety & EnvironmentalTo actively support and demonstrate the Switchboard & Power Controls commitment to Occupational Health and Safety and the Environment, including:Adopting standard safe work practices and procedures in accordance with the Switchboard & Power Controls Management systems and safety policies;Eliminating and reporting workplace hazards/incidents, taking part in safety drills and other activities, and supporting the work of safety representatives and committees;Being involved in Site Safety/Communication Meetings as required;Conducting activities in accordance with Switchboard & Power Controls environmental policies, codes, and guidelines; in particular, minimizing energy and material usage in the workplace.Have an understanding of EHS, assist with general field & workshop operational duties if required, and be part of any Emergency Response Team;Have an understanding of safety shutdown and emergency systems and procedures.Assist in ensuring all work complies with all statutory and corporate safety standards.Work with and abide by conditions set out in any customer's Permit-to-Work system.Be familiar with the Switchboard & Power Controls Emergency Response Plan.OrganizationalThe position reports to the Switchboard & Power Controls electrical supervisor or electrician.A close working relationship must be maintained with the staff members.SupervisionTo liaise with management & electrical supervisor.ProductionUtilize available manpower to ensure safe and timely performance of jobs.Assist other staff in new areas to gain the necessary knowledge & experience.Coordinate and assist in the investigation of process and control problems.Analyze problem-solving with customers and coordinate corrective actions ensuring appropriate documentation.Ensure that corrective actions for problem-solving are understood by all involved and minimize interruption to production.Cost ControlAssist with monitoring of Operations/Maintenance Budget costs.Implement initiatives to minimize operating costs.MaintenanceManage day-to-day maintenance/repair work and coordinate an efficient work program with customers.Facilitate problem-solving with personnel regarding plant equipment.Develop, maintain, and coordinate schedules for routines, and reporting of plant equipment.Liaise with customers to coordinate isolation of plant and equipment for maintenance.Have an understanding of Basic Mechanics.Respond to after-hours call-outs as required.Have an understanding of Surface Oil and Gas Equipment.Have general basic science knowledge with the ability to perform medium calculations.Carry out duties utilizing skills acquired from previous experience or training.Respond in a timely fashion when critical equipment is reported malfunctioning or unserviceable.Be responsible for quality housekeeping in the maintenance workshop and ensuring workshop equipment is kept in a safe working order.ReportingHave a working knowledge of the Switchboard & Power Controls’ computer systems.Prepare JIM2 Purchase Requisitions for parts taken from stores.Assist the stores person in stocking an appropriate amount of spares.Contract ManagementCoordinate works with other contractors on site.AuditingLiaise with EHS officer in carrying out Workshop Hazard Inspections and area audits.Close out action items arising from site audits.Self DevelopmentKeep updated with current industry trends.Complete necessary Switchboard & Power Controls Competency Based Training requirements.Participate in training program as agreed in annual Performance Review.OtherTo identify, assess and control hazards and effectively implement all relevant Switchboard & Power Controls EHS policies and procedures.To actively and effectively apply Switchboard & Power Controls Environmental Policies, Code of Environmental Practice, and Environmental Guidelines, and to ensure that the actions of employees are in accordance with such documentation.To actively apply and promote Switchboard & Power Controls Equal Employment Opportunity policy and to ensure that employees observe these principles within the workplace.Other appropriate duties as required at the direction of the Managers or electrical supervisorEssential QualificationsNT Drivers licenceAbility to obtain Apprentice Registration – Electrical Licensing BoardAbility to obtain Ochre CardAbility to obtain Construction Induction White CardAbility to Pass Eye Color TestHigh school certificate or pre-vocational trade certificate.
