Primary objective
The Placements Unit manages the placement of children and young people in the care of the Chief Executive Officer into alternative care arrangements with a focus on safeguarding children and supporting their best interests. The primary function is to match children and young people to available placements that will best meet their needs and coordinate communication between carers and case managers.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Monitor the quality of record keeping, identify issues with accuracy, completeness, consistency and compliance, and initiate corrective action.
2. Liaise with a variety of stakeholders such as the Department’s Foster Carers, external service providers and internal regional staff in relation to child related placements payments.
3. Ensure the timely and accurate payment of all child placement related invoices.
4. Provide support and undertake a range of CARE system data entry work that will include quality checking of information.
5. Receive, collate and upload non-automated payments, with a high level of accuracy and timeliness, utilising a range of systems and databases.
6. Provide support and guidance to divisional staff with creation and processing of Purchase Orders through NTGPay purchase modules.
7. Processing of foster care payments.
8. Provide support to cardholders and verifiers for the effective management and reconciliation of credit card payments.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in using computer data entry systems and an ability to quickly learn new systems.
2. Sound written and oral communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to undertake quality assurance of paper based and electronic records with high attention to detail.
4. Highly motivated and flexible with sound organisational and analytical skills.
5. An ability to work independently, to handle a range of tasks concurrently and to prioritise and problem solve.
6. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and information privacy.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
8. Experience in processing invoices and payments in financial systems such as NTGPay, and Government Accounting System (GAS).
